Rough Draft
Muscles
I have been called “too muscular” for a girl and told “I look like a boy”. My passion for exercising and weightlifting has undoubtedly contributed to my muscle growth over the years. I imagine many other girls have experienced teasing and hatred for having masculine body features. Why do people feel it's okay to comment on women's muscles?
One possible reason is that this is why girls struggle so much with their bodies. Due to the fact that we have to appear in a specific way to be the "ideal girl”. Another factor is the stereotype that girls lack muscle, particularly in the upper body. As well as if they have muscle then they need to have the perfect amount otherwise we will be “too muscular” through others eyes. In the long term, it hurts others when people intentionally criticize others in order to boost their own egos and feel better.
If we have a different attitude toward girls who are muscular and encourage them to be confident no matter what they look like. Instead of tearing girls down for being confident and wanting to workout we should begin lifting them up and supporting the fact that a girl who has muscle does not change who she is on the inside. Muscular girls gain their confidence by seeing their progress from them working out. But tearing them down will not help their confidence. Let's start to take a different look at girls who have muscle and start to encourage it rather than hurt it.

I have been called “too muscular” for a girl and told “I look like a boy.” My passion for exercising and weightlifting has undoubtedly contributed to my muscle growth over the years. I imagine many other girls have experienced teasing and hatred for having muscular features. Why do people feel it's okay to comment on women's muscles?
One possible reason people feel it is okay to comment on women's muscles could be that they are responding to the idea of the "ideal girl.” Many people may think the ideal girl is small and petite. They may feel that muscle is just for men; their comments are trying to make sense of the person who is appearing to violate a gender code. Additionally people may also feel it is okay to comment because of their own insecurities about their body.
If we could start thinking critically and honestly about why we believe it's acceptable to make remarks about women's muscles, we could discover that our justification is based on the fact that we haven't come across a woman with muscle. We might notice it brings out an insecurity within ourselves seeing someone who is viewed as petite is bigger in the upper body. Some people may feel it is okay to comment on women with muscle because the sight is unfamiliar and maybe even motivational.
