Card 101 was a really knowledgeable week this week. This week taught me a lot. We had research skill training on Monday. I gained a lot of knowledge from the things we discussed and discovered. The webpage that we may use to access the library website was fantastic. The statements beginning with "Or" and "And" were my favorites. I find it fascinating how much those two words may alter during the course of research. For instance, how much they both explicitly narrow down what you are seeking for. I really enjoyed the sheet she gave us and how we could go in some direction if necessary. I just believed that doing this demonstrated our familiarity with the research method, but it will also aid in simplifying the procedure and make it simpler to identify trustworthy websites.
After that, we had a workday on Wednesday. We helped someone with their topic by guiding them through the process of reducing a wide topic to a more focused one. Hearing the conversations and learning how much a topic can be narrowed down to a more focused area of discussion—in this case, a rational argument—was really interesting. I really enjoyed hearing Dr. Kyburz's story because it was very suspenseful. The idea that she went through that and events like that don't only happen in movies was completely wild. On Wednesday, we only had time for a couple minutes of rational argument. Personally, I believe that having a paragraph or some research to finish during that brief period of time in class rather than outside of it was quite beneficial.
Finally, the card event on career readiness took place on Friday. Learning about this topic was quite intriguing. I found it super fascinating about just learning about how certain degrees don't have to go into that specific degree. You can enter a field with any degree that can in any way assist or support that. Additionally, I was unaware that our school had a resource center that could assist you with classes, degree assistance, an internship, your resume, and other matters. The workshop was quite engaging, and I gained a lot of knowledge from it.
